A night to remember. Or better; it will be one of those nights you want to relive over and over again. Hamel and friends will give a special concert at the Paradiso in Amsterdam, Okt. 8th. While working on a new album and a lot of touring abroad, Hamel wants to thank all the fans for all the support and love over the last 3/4 years. This concert, with specials guests such as Benjamin Herman, Henry Ronde and the Jullia Phillippens String Ensemble will be recorded for a live dvd/cd. If you want to be there, make sure to get your tickets a.s.a.p.; the tickets are limited because of the intimate character of this show.

New video! Backstage pictures of videoshoot for See You Once Again

I’ve had a lot of fun shooting a video for ‘See You Once Again’ this past weekend. This new video features a whole bunch of people: my band obviously (Pieter, Sven, Jasper, Gijs & Rory), Benjamin Herman (who plays a saxophone solo on this song), Henry Ronde (our guitarist Rory’s father), two Brazilian samba dancers, twin sisters, Aardvarck (a.k.a. Mike Kivits) & Benny Sings (a.k.a. Tim van Berkestijn). We were directed by a very young and talented director: Menno Otten. At the end of the first day I realized I had brought my camera so I made shots whenever I had the time (and didn’t have to perform). I’m very curious how the video will turn out, but I am quite sure it will be tremendous!

After his first successfull tour in the beginning of Summer 2010, Hamel and friends will be back in Germany real soon. In September Hamel will be performing in Braunschweig and Hamburg (Reeperbahn Fest), in November Hamel will do a tour in cities like Mainz, Köln and again Hamburg. Hamel in Japan – special edition Nobody’s Tune

Hamel and friends will be back in Japan in September! With eight shows in Tokyo and Osaka, Hamel will celebrate the release of a special edition of his latest album in Japan. Producer Benny Sings, in the middle of recording a new album, has confirmed to join Hamel on tour and stage. Hamel will release a special edition of Nobody’s Tune for his Japanese fans with live renditions of songs like One More Time On The Merry-Go-Round, Next Year, While I’ll Be Gone and When Morning Comes plus a live recording of the un-released track We Have Today. To top it all off the exclusive Mark E. Brydon (Moloko) – remix of See You Once Again is included.

Hamel, Herman and strings at the Concertgebouw

August 6, 7 & 8 Hamel will be part of a magical weekend at Hollands most prestigious concert hall, the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. For these three nights Dutch saxophone player extraordinaire Benjamin Herman has been given carte blanche and has invited his personal favourites. Friday evening has a literary tinge featuring MC Pete Philly with Kasper Kalf, Gideon van Gelder and Joost Kroon and poets Remco Campert and Jules Deelder. On Saturday ‘living legends’ Piet Noordijk, Rein de Graaff, Stan Tracey (’the godfather of British jazz’) and Bobby Wellins with Andrew Cleyndert, Clark Tracey, Ernst Glerum and Joost Patocka. On the closing night Hamel and his band will be accompanied by the string ensemble of Julia Philippens and mr Herman himself. Make sure to get your tickets in time. This just in: Hamel has been invited to join the infamous Orquestra Buena Vista Social Club for their tour in Germany as their support act. Hamel and band will combine this with the Hamel shows in Kassel. Jena and Karlsruhe mid-Juli. Check the tourdates for more details and see you in Bonn, Mainz, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Kassel, Jena or Karlsruhe. Hamel is back in Germany early August in Braunschweig.

An impressive group of more than 60 (!) remixers came up with their edit of the Hamel song In Between for the national 3FM radio show Giel!. After listening to this huge variety of renditions of the song with his producer Benny Sings, Hamel picked the Buurman & Buurman remix as the winner.
